The is a small (and expanding) research team in the biocomputation group at the University of Hertfordshire. is headed by Ben Torben-Nielsen. We investigate the functioning of single neurons and the intricate relation between morphology, membrane properties and spatio-temporal input patterns that collectively give rise to neuronal computations.

Neurons have specialized input and output structures, called dendrites and axons, respectively. Their precise spatial embedding limits the micro-circuit, and, dendrites define the input-output function of neurons by actively integrating all synaptic inputs.

At the, we investigate the beautiful arborization of neurons, their morphology and function, as well as potential applications of single neuron functioning in the domain of Artificial Intelligence. The club has expertise in computational neuroscience, neuroinformatics, data analysis & machine learning and biorobotics.
